That’s why we created this blog to help. We’ve compiled a to-do checklist, so when you move to Toledo, Ohio, you can easily mark off everything you’ve done and stay on top of those pesky tasks.

Change your Address

After a move, you’ll want to get your mail forwarded and let several institutions know where they can contact you. Start with the post office. Filling out the Change of Address Form can be done online and only takes a few minutes. Be sure to have the following handy as well:

  • Your old address
  • Your new address
  • When they should begin forwarding your mail

They also have a full Movers FAQ to help navigate any additional questions, like moving a business to a household.

The IRS should also be notified of your new address since not all post offices will forward government checks. This should be done as early as possible as a change with the IRS can take up to six weeks to be fully processed.

Let your bank, credit card companies, medical providers, and any other institutions send you mail to know that you have moved. This can help maintain security over sensitive personal information, as mail doesn’t always get forwarded correctly.

Make an Appointment With the Ohio BMV

Updating your license and registration is essential. Whether you’re new to Ohio or just moving to Toledo from another suburb, you’ll still need to change your license and vehicle registration.

In Ohio, you have 30 days from becoming a resident to update your license and registration. You are considered an Ohio resident under the following conditions:

  • Take a job
